Chiropractors Registered in Another Canadian Jurisdiction

The Board of the Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors (NSCC) has adopted the following standards for compliance with the CANADIAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT (CFTA) and Labor Mobility.

The following documents must be uploaded onto your application:
  1. Current First Aid Certification card
  2. Government issued Photo ID with proof of Age
  3. 1 passport style photo 
  4. Proof of ability to work in Canada (non-Canadian Citizens)


Letter(s) of good standing

NSCC administration requires a Letter of Good Standing from each jurisdiction you have been licensed in. The letter(s) must be emailed or mailed to NSCC directly from the regulatory board.

The criteria for good standing is defined as:

(a) is not subject to any complaints or disciplinary proceedings,
(b) has no conditions or restrictions on or pending on their license or registration, and
(c) has been assessed by the authority to have the capacity, competence and character to safely and ethically practice Regulation 


Canadian background check

All applicants must complete a Canadian background check with CSI. Click here.   CSI will forward results directly to NSCC.

Note: Applicants may be subject to a review of chiropractic disciplinary records such as CINBAD 


All applications are required to be Notarized. The original notarized form must be mailed to NSCC.  Emailed/scanned copies will not be accepted.

In the Member Portal, your completed application can be printed using the Print Your Application button. 

Upon receipt of the notarized application form and when all required documentation has been accepted, a Jurisprudence Exam will be scheduled.  For more details on the exam please click HERE.


Decision timeline: Applicants will be notified in writing within 5 business days of completing the JE exam.  If successful, payment of applicable licensing fee's are required (prorated based on the month in which you are joining NSCC). 

A registration decision may reflect two possible outcomes:

  • Registration is granted – the applicant has met the requirements for registration and is eligible to become a practicing member of the NSCC.  The applicant’s registration may be subject to terms, conditions, or restrictions as permitted by law and/or NSCC Regulations.
  • Registration is not granted – the applicant does not currently meet the requirements for registration and is not eligible to become a practicing member of the NSCC at this time.  The applicant may be eligible to become registered at a later time, after fulfilling certain requirements or addressing gaps in their training and/or skills.  


NOTE: Successful applicants will be granted conditional registration pending a Peer Assessment evaluation during their initial 12 months of practice. Full registration will be subject to successful completion of the Peer Assessment Evaluation. 



TEMPORARY LICENSES

Chiropractors currently licensed in another jurisdiction may apply to NSCC for a Temporary License to cover a  Locum or to attend a special event.  Once all documentation has been received by NSCC and is deemed acceptable - NSCC will advise the applicant of a formal licensing decision in writing within 5 business days. 

Letters of Good standing are required from each jurisdiction a license has been issued. Letters of Standing must be send to NSCC directly from the respective licensing boards. 

A registration fee will be charged upon application payable by credit card.

Professional Liability Insurance

All registered members must maintain professional liability insurance with a minimum coverage of five million dollars ($5,000,000) per year and five million dollars ($5,000,000) per incident. Certificate of license will be withheld until proof of liability is received by NSCC. If Dry Needling/Acupuncture certification has been completed - coverage must be noted in your liability insurance.
